I am a LAA Inspector (842) and have owned and built a number of aircraft.
Inspections can be carried out at your airfield or at my base airfield near Lichfield (Staffordshire) with PPR. An annual inspection for a Permit to Fly renewal usually takes about 2-3 hours depending upon type and condition. On top of that is the paperwork, homework and research time. My inspection process requires the owner/operator to remove all inspection panels, covers etc as required and then refit them after the inspection as this reduces time and cost.
As an Inspector, I can also provide you with a weight & balance sheet for your aircraft.
Remember that all Microlights must be weighed at intervals not exceeding 5 years.

Inspections cost £90 within a 15 mile radius of Lichfield. Additional travelling expenses will be made for greater distances. If I weigh the aircraft at the same time that I do the annual inspection then there is a 25% reduction in the weighing fee. This also applies to Dynamic Balancing. My LAA membership number is 016026.
